The Sound of Silence
In the hush that folds the waiting night
Even stars bow softly to that quiet night
Soft breaths hold the last thin city light
And shadows learn to cradle trembling light
Where footsteps mute the rumor of a sound
The air keeps its secret, listening to the sound
Thoughts settle, rooted deep as patient ground
Words drift away like leaves upon that ground
Silence sings a secret lullaby of peace
It folds the restless tides and calls them peace
Sorrows unwind their knots and find release
In listening's hush the weary world finds release
