Turkey Meatballs in Marinara Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, minced garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1-1.5 inches in diameter.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  4. Brown the meatballs on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, pour in the marinara sauce and bring it to a simmer.
  6. Add the browned meatballs back into the skillet, cover, and let them cook in the sauce for another 10-15 minutes, until cooked through.
  7. Serve hot over pasta, rice, or enjoy on their own with crusty bread!
